Phase 2: Representation

Phase 2 will be a big launch that will be dripped out through the next month starting on January 16th. Get ready for what's to come and will be changing the way we think about Content Creation and showcasing our narrative story. Phase 2 is all about representation of the key components of what the term means. Representation is more than appearance and how people view us it's about peeling back all the layers that make us unique in our own way. In this 3 part segment you will be given the chance to be a part of a community with similar goals as yourselves.

I remember as a child growing up my two influences that had shaped the way I viewed the world was through Alvin Ailey (Activist & Choreographer) and Dr. Rev Martin Luther King Jr (Activist & Reverend during the Civil Rights Movement). What I admired most about those two democratic leaders is how they shift non-believers into believers by changing their points of views and exposing what life could be like if we act now to change our current stage of environment. They were both challenged mentally and physically throughout their journey. Their influence has changed the way that we view leadership and opportunity to create our own original stories no matter what others view.

At age 8 I decided that I wanted to become a choreographer so I did everything in my power to make that happen. I would like to say thank you to my incredible parents for helping build my foundation while managing my career in the arts.

Lessons Learned:

  • Discipline- Being able to stay focus on the goal at hand and staying consistent with growth

  • Consistency- Practicing everyday no matter how tired you are and pushing the envelope

  • Work Ethic - Create your own definition of creativity and block out the noise

  • Leadership- Setting the tone for your team and remember to be true to yourself

Going to all performing arts schools & dance programs had helped me learn all the artistry skills I needed to become an artist. I remember at age 17 preparing to make one of the biggest decisions in my life was challenging. I had to decide if I was going to pursue dance full time in New York or go off to college to learn about the business side of the arts. I decided that I was going to go off to school and focus more on my educational experience learning to understand all aspects of business. Courses included: Business Writing, Grants, Marketing, Negotiations, Investing, and more. After graduating from college it was very difficult to find employment and something that fit what I envisioned myself doing. In many of the places I worked I noticed that there weren't many people of color in leadership roles.

In 2021 I decided I was going to create that change. I remember writing in my planner the word “Start.” Many people were confused on what it meant but I knew If I was going to do something of my own it would be to start my own business. I launched BPerryFilms and became the leader that I strived to be. I have opened many doors for people who haven't had the opportunity to market themselves in a positive light in an inclusive space. I have worked with many Performing Artists, Content Creators, and Small Businesses to help give them exposure. I have worked with many brands ranging from 6-Figures to Billion dollar companies. Being able to host and participate in webinars and panels has truly been a testimony of what is to come next. I can't wait to take you all along my journey as I expand the BPerryFilms Franchise.
