Developing Your Strengths
As a small business owner, you run into many obstacles that you don’t believe will happen to you until you experience it for yourself. We often think too highly of ourselves and our products saying that we will hit the 6-figure mark with ease. People on social media make it look so simple if they just came up with an idea overnight. In actuality, they have been planning for months if not years before executing. The videos I share in this post will describe some of the personal highs and lows that I have experienced in the entrepreneurial field of Digital Marketing and Content Production.
In this video, I share some insight on what it is like to be a small creator business owner or a solo creator where life is challenging and will have a ton of curves. The main key components you need to have are 1) Consistency 2) Selling To The Right Audience 3) Branding
Consistency:
Everyone wants to call themselves an Entrepreneur but doesn’t understand the complexity that comes along with it. In order to be a true business owner of any sort of industry you have to have the willpower of an Investment Banker. Investment Bankers as you know work long hours and know how to do things by the book in order to be sustainable. To work in Wall Street you know you have to have a certain personality and the right mindset because it's a lot of work.
We often find ourselves comparing ourselves to YouTubers and TikToks all the time and they make it seem like they just blew up overnight. To be honest that isn't the case. Many people like myself have written an outline of what we want to do with our company or personal brand and written it into a business plan. Business Plans usually take about 6 months to a year if not longer to write because it is very complex and has many elements to it.
In my course “Creating An Effective Business Plan” I break it down into 10 modules where I teach participants through video how to write their business plan in a way that is compelling to their audience. It takes a lot of will but if you consistent enough and really want to be successful in any industry you choose you have to be able to adapt and being able to push beyond your limits. Consistency takes time to master and sustain but learning to not overexert can help avoid burnout.
Selling To The Right Audience:
I will say it 3 times “Persona, Persona, Persona”. But what does persona mean? It means finding the right demographic that best describes your audience. This can be broken down into subcategories that could be their Religion, Age, Location, Gender, and more. Having all this information available will help to tailor who your right audience is. This could be subjective to 1) Your Product 2) Where your product is available 3) How can you be accessible to your clients 4) Your offer
Your Product: What are you planning to sell to your specific audience
Location: Can this be bought in person, delivered, or virtually
Accessibility: How can you be reached via phone, email, or social media?
Offer: What are you going to deliver that justifies the price
These aren't the only questions that you will have to answer but it is a stepping stone as to how you could tailor your pitch. Don't be afraid to ask people whom you know you can trust to see if your pitch deck could be tweaked to reach the specific group of people that you believe will benefit from your services. If your offering for that persona doesn't work be open to change.
Branding:
Branding can be found in many businesses and regular day-to-day people. All branding means is having an identity that helps people understand who you are and what you bring to the table. We look at companies like Hersey’s and we think about their peanut butter and chocolate company Resses. Their marketing strategy is just repurposing content. This could be the regular Ressess, Recess Big Cup, Resses Pieces, Resses Pieces in a Cup, Recess White or Dark Chocolate.
Personal Branding: This could be a person who has influenced a specific group of people to reach a specific goal. They have the power to create change and help people achieve the needs that benefit their audience. Personal Brands refer to an individual perspective that makes a difference in the way they experience things
Business Branding: This refers to a collective group of people or organizations that have an influence on how their audience perceives things. Building a community is required for any business to sustain growth and capital.
Branding takes time which requires patience and being able to adapt with the times. You have to build trust and understanding.
In conclusion, knowing your and developing your strengths are needed in order to obtain growth. Consistency is the key component to any person’s success. We are taught at a young age the more we practice the better we will perform. Selling to the right audience is important because it prevents you from wasting time and niches your focus to a particular group. Lastly building a brand is the most important part because this is how you craft your creditability and build exposure.
