Accountability
On Episode 34 of BPerryFilms I get real about people’s behaviors and how they impact the people around them and themselves. Accountability comes from within and can be broken down into different components. It can be looked at from an internal lens where it is based on your thoughts and an external lens where its perceived through your behaviors.
Let us start with the internal lens which is self doubt. Is it a factor of what you personally believe or what people told you what your limits are? There are many videos out there that talk about internal hate and they came up with a concept called Imposter Syndrome. It is the belief of saying that you can’t achieve this goal or complete a task due to a certain mindset change that is holding us back. You may ask what is holding you back. Maybe it is the unknown. Maybe it may not live up to your expectation. Maybe you won't get the outcome that you desire. But maybe that maybe can turn into can be.
In my household we weren't allowed to use the term can’t and turned it into the phrase “This is possible if I try harder”. This will come with time. Keep practicing and we will get there. See how I turned that negative point of view into something positive. Sometimes that self doubt can motivate us. We can use Performing Artist Like Beyonce Knowles-Carter. She knew at a young age that she wanted to be a singer so she started taking vocal lessons and dance classes starting at age 3. She participated in talent shows and beauty pageants to help her get the confidence she wanted to have. She is an introvert believe it or not but when she had a goal in mind she knew she would have to showcase her craft no matter how big or small the audience was. At age 8 she was part of a music group called Grilz Time on the show Star Search. They came in second place but it helped shape her into the person that she was striving to become. Later the group applied for different record labels and her father Matthew Knowles took over and managed their group which was renamed Destiney’s Child. Over time they went through financial hardship and even went through a few band members it was like the song Survivor and who was going to rise to the top. There are many things that the media will put into your heads to keep you down and to stir up a story. Fast forwarding now she has 32 Grammys most out of any artist and tied with her husband JAY Z with 80 Grammy Nominations. As I said there were many bumps in the road and it wasn't an easy path. It is important now to see what your niche is and what your path can be.
Let's look at the external lens of having discipline. Despicable shows that you are committed to the task that you have at the end. Having the opportunities to go to school to get an education, play the sports that you love to do and even pick up an instrument because you love a tune is important as to how we build up our personality and habits. Discipline is having a habit that sticks where it feels like second nature. It often doesn't feel like work. It’s something that can be fulfilling and brings comfort to the things that you want to pursue. I often tell my clients and students who take my courses, webinars and even one on ones that anything is possible as long as you try. When you show up, ask the right questions, understand concepts, and deliver results you are becoming a master of your disguise. Sometimes we don't see the results right away or as fast as we thought it would but that's the fun in it all. Being able to walk through the process and learning to use the tools given to help you to get the results over and over is a great accomplishment. It shows the power of understanding and having knowledge.
In conclusion, accountability requires time, effort, and commitment. But are you willing to go through the process?
Recommendation: Come join my membership YouTubers Create where I talk about digital marketing and build camera confidence while building your audience. Like I tell my students all you have to do is hit record. It’s amazing how you feel when you document your process and sometimes even writing things down in a journal helps you to get your thoughts out.
